  • Multi-parameter neOnatal diagnoStics and Antibiotics blood concentration monItoring at the point-of-Care

Financial support for the preparation of Small or medium-scale focused research project (STREP) proposal funded by the European Commission under FP7- ICT-2009-5 (Collaborative Project).
I built a consortium of 7 European partners consisting of research scientist, SMEs and clinicians with the aim to realise a point-of-care medical diagnostic device to monitor in a semi-continuous way the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of 2 antibiotics in paediatric patient.
The system proposed the integration of novel synthetic receptors on to electric transducer requiring very specific designs and molecular wiring for the efficient recognition signal transduction within the device by an ASIC chip, capable of processing the measurements and communicating the results to a bedside monitor and patients record database.

This project is currently being modified to be submitted to the upcoming FP7 on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) call 8 (Section Micro-Nano-Bio Convergence Systems (MNBS) – Close January 2012 ).
